Weekend at Hanmer Springs

On Saturday morning after weeding and gutter cleaning and folding up the washing from the day before, we packed the car and left for Hanmer. A friend had rented a house there and offered us the chance to come up and stay. Jamie goes to One Day School with James, the eldest of the 3 kids. The middle being Henry and the youngest being Elizabeth. On the way we stopped for lunch at The Mud House. I thought it would be nice to take it easy travelling up there. After lunch it was another 45 min drive to Hanmer and we arrived at the house (bach) about 15:00. It wasn't a very well designed place but it had all you really needed and the views were nice. Later that afternoon we all went into the pools. I have no photos of us in the pools because I didn't want to take the DSLR in with me. Just in case. Started off in the kids' pool, then moved over to the lazy river and then onto one of the really nice HOT pools for a warm up. After the kids got bored there (grrrr) we went to the rocky river part (not sure what it's called) and then finally back to the kids' pool before changing and grabbing a coffee.
The evening was spent cooking. I'd put on a pork roast (mmmm, crackling) before we left for the pools but it hadn't quite cooked. Vegetables took a little while too. Shame it wasn't a fan oven. After the kids had gone to bed it was wine and good chat.
The next day off we went to Animal Farm so the kids could run about and get their fingers bitten off feeding the animals. I forgot my camera on this leg which was a bummer really. So no photos of anyone or anything. Supposedly Henry went around with his mum's camera so we'll see if I can get a copy of those. Back to the house for cold pork sandwiches for lunch, followed by a trip to the pools again. We got return tickets. The agenda there was pretty much the same as the day before.
Whilst the others stayed on another night, Jamie Bees and I left about 16:30 to drive back home, stopping off at MacDonalds in Hornby for tea.
The few pictures I have are here.
