One Day School

Jamie and I went to One Day School today. This is a school for "special" children. :-)
The boss of Southbridge school gave Esther some info on one day school because he and Jamie's teachers felt Jamie might progress better if helped differently. I don't like to use the term 'gifted' because he ain't no Mozart.
So we got there at 12:30 ready for the start and 7 other kids were there also. All "special"'in their own rights.
We watched as the teacher took the kids through the intro and today's topic was space. Not just outer space but space we live in, personal space... Etc. This way of teaching isn't really learning abc's or times tables or dates, but getting the kids to think for themselves.
It's called one day school because if Jamie goes to it, it will be one day a week. Of course he has to be "special" enough.
We, the adults, were then taken to the next room and we sat down (kids chairs are sooo uncomfortable) and discussed the fees, the curriculum, the ideas etc behind the whole thing.
The difficulty for Jamie and me would be getting him into town for 09:00 and picked up at 15:00, because Esther does that for Bees. However there are ways around it.
I'm happy that it's only one day so that Jamie gets to keep his friends at school who are the same age. Audrey had problems being "special" when she was at school, being promoted to a higher class and not fitting in with those kids because she was too young and not fitting in with kids the same age because she didn't hang out with them and all she wanted was to be loved. :-(.
This is all dependent on Jamie passing the assessment. Of course Mr. Cynical here knows Jamie will pass. The school body will then get their fees and government funding.
Will it be good for Jamie? Perhaps. But I can't see it being worse. Hopefully it will help him in some ways to be more social and express himself more betterer.
