Havelock

The drive up was very windy. In the van this meant concentrating just a bit more than normal. It was also very sunny and warm because of the norwester. The strange part was it was sunny but raining too. It took slot longer to get up here this time. We left at 09:00 and got here at 16:00. It usually takes 5 hours. It would have been because we stopped extra for an ice cream but an extra 2 hours?
Once we arrived I found out that the clocks went forward on the weekend. The bad thing was, I'd set up the video recorder but forgot to set the clock forward. Never mind.
Monday we didn't do too much. Went for a walk through town and back along the marina, stopping for a coffee as it was such a lovely warm day. The kids were played in the park. Gaby showed me her new business which was making oilskin and raincoats from her garage. They looked pretty good to me. she also makes hats and wine cooler bags and other things. She aims to sell these coats more to specific markets like wine growers, horsey people, farmers... Etc. That night the kids slept out in the tent they put up but Bees decided to come back into the house after a while.
Tuesday, again we didn't do too much. The kids went to the park to play ball and us adults went to Heidi's cafe for a coffee and a chat. Heidi makes great cakes.
Wednesday and it was into Blenheim for a little shopping and swimming with the kids. Well not really swimming. More carrying the kids about until they got used to the deeper water. I bought some timers for when I water the plants and some more candles after using a few up at quaketime.
It rained Thursday.
Friday we went shopping in Blenheim and a general day out. It was cool but very sunny.
Saturday was my return back home. The kids decided they wanted to stay so after some considerable thought I let them. This is the first time they'll have been away from home for any length of time. It'll do 'em good. It also means they will be looked after when I go back to work next week. Although Esther is always there, it's nice to give her a break as well.
I didn't take any photos this time. Well, 3. Maybe one day I'll stop lots and take pictures of the scenery on the way.
