New Car?

I've been looking for some time at a new car. Probably for over 5 years but recently it's become more in the forefront of my mind due to the MR2 getting more ..er.. loose. It's starting to feel as though it might be in the process of failing. However, having said that, it still continues to go. So what have I been looking for? Mainly a hatchback. They're great. You have the seats of a car and the space of an estate, but not together. Not that it's important.
So I had a look at a Ford Focus, a Toyota Corolla, a Mazda 3, Suzuki Swift, Hyundai i35 and many others. However, I saw a Jaguar (in the picture above) and it looked good. I thought, rather than go for a hatchback or a sporty type, why not go for opulence. For luxury. Checking out the prices, the Jaguar X-types are about the same price as a hatch anyway. So I went to 73 Moorhouse Avenue to check this car out.
I was disappointed. Some of the electrics didn't seem to work. The back seat had a squeak and I mean a LOUD squeak and instead of a CD player it has a mini disc. Why? The leather seats were hard and uncomfortable too.
I did check out another with cloth seats. Much better. It did not have electric seats either and considering I'd be the person driving it, it would be a set and forget, Why bother about electric seats. Plus to add to the cloth seated Jag, it was $5000 cheaper. But a Jag should have leather seats, right?
So I'm thinking, because I also saw that I could add 5-7 years onto a Jaguar X-Type and get a Ford for the same price. Better equipped and probably more fuel efficient.
So I wait and check all the different cars again as I really don't know what to go for. I've been a hatchback fan and a sports car fan for ages. I feel like a change.

I'm selling my 8 year old Astra 1.6 Club, 61,000 miles, 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, £2350. No leather, no electric seats, no mini disc player, no squeaks. Interested?!

My JAG was the biggest waste of money I ever spent. That was an S-Type. I think the new ones are ok if you have 40k to spend on a car but I would never look at another 2nd hand one.
