Audrey's Funeral

After Audrey died, Esther stepped up to the mark and helped greatly in organising Audry's funeral. For me, I did not mind at all what happened. Audrey did not express any preferences other than to be a donor for her organs, which she has done and gone on to so far help 3 guys in New Zealand with her liver and kidneys.
Esther requested that at the funeral that Psalm 23 was read/played, that the Lords Prayer was read and that there was a poem, that Audrey liked when she was younger, be read. I wanted Amazing Grace because I liked it and for no other reason. The minister was Audrey's uncle. We videoed it. More for me as I might not be there in mind at the time and want to look back on it. Also for the kids if they ever want to look back on it and also if anyone who could not make it wishes to see it, let me know.
We got there around 10:00 for an 11:00 start. We set up the photos and horsey stuff and then I went into see Audrey. It was very distressing seeing her there.
The funeral service went well, from what I can remember with the hymns and readings going well. Then off for a cup of tea and a chat after carrying out the casket to the hearse. I didn';t have anything to eat (later regretting that as there were some rather tasty cream cheese, chocolate bits and kiwifruit sandwiches), but I did have cups of tea and chatted to many people. Close to the end Bees sai to me "Can we go and bury mummy now?". "Soon Beesie", I said. "I wanna do it now!" she exclaimed. It was great to hear her directness which is something Audrey had whenever she wanted to do something.
So soon after we followed the hearse at 60 and 80km/h up to Kimberley (darfield way) to the burial site for a 14:00 burial. It was cold and rainny and miserable. Once we were there Kenneth, Audrey's uncle said a little speach and then people covered the casket with flowers. Thank you Judith for giving Audrey the cryptic crossword book. She loved doing those. Then there was a discussion about the grave itself. It was dug in the wrong place! I walked away as I didn't want to know about it all and was too upset to care. Esther and her family are buried there and quite understandably were upset at the hole dug in the wrong place away from the family. Council guys came over to say that it was correct and perhaps the others were in the wrong place.
The result was that Audrey was taken back to the funeral parlour, there was no burial and the "Yates" family went to the council to discuss what went wrong.
People came back to Audrey and my place to eat, drink and chat and remember Audrey and catch up with the rest of the family. Friends came too. Later, the "Yates'" came back and it was decided that Audrey would be buried on Saturday at 13:00.
On Saturday, we took off to bury Audrey for the second time. There was cloud interspersed by sunny periods and the day felt a lot calmer and less rushed than Friday, which was good. We finally got to bury Audrey in the right place and at our own pace. We stood around to chat and after that we went up to Dyane's (sister) place for a cuppa.
To all the horsey people out there and to others that understand, it looks like Audrey got her re-ride.
